Team of the Week - 21 September 2015

Contenders:-

S1 Rugby

A gritty performance from the team saw them through to their first victory. Improved tackling and rucking along with superb kicking all contributed to the win.

S2 Rugby

The team had a very convincing victory over Knox Academy. However the nomination is for the six Trinity players who played for Knox (different halves) and showed great spirit, scoring three tries between them.

The winners are:-

2nd XI Hockey

An outstanding 3-1 win over Watsons with goals coming from Molly Walker (2) and India Reilly

Team of the Week - 7 September 2015

The joint winners are:-

S2 Rugby

Despite some players getting lost on the way to Lasswade, the team put in another very good performance against a much vaunted Lasswade HSC (who are also a School of Rugby). Lots of excellent team tries with Ross Telford being on the end of three of them. Reuben Walsh was outstanding in defence.

U16 Rugby

An excellent six try victory over a Lasswade side that contained 3 district players. A real squad effort was topped off with some great individual performances from Aiden Fox, Struan Whittaker, debutant Frank Speirs and Angus O’Connor who kicked all his conversions.

Team of the Week - 28 September 2015

Contenders:-

S1 Rugby

With the team beginning to bond and become familiar with how a game of rugby should be played, the 1st Year Rugby team achieved a strong win against Musselburgh. Stand out defence from Luke and Aiden was complemented by excellent attacking footwork from Alex and hard graft from the forwards.

Surely a TotW award cannot be far off!

S3 Rugby

The Under 15’s came back from being 29-10 down to win 36-34!  A superb effort in the second half scoring 4 tries and only conceding 1 despite being a man down for the final 10 minutes!

The winners are:-

1st XI Hockey

After playing some excellent hockey over the last couple of weeks the 1st XI were finally rewarded on Saturday securing their first win of the season against a strong St George’s team. A first half goal from Sophie Kerr gave the team the lead and an early second half goal from Mairi Espie secured the win. A well-earned victory for a team that have made some excellent progress since the beginning of the season. Well done girls!

Team of the Week - 19 October 2015

The joint winners are:-

S2 Rugby

Having featured in almost every Team of the Week nomination since the term began, the S2 have nailed 1st= spot with another very good display, this time dispatching local rivals RHS. The game was tight in the first half but with the wind and slope at Wardie in their favour, the S2’s turned it on. Pick of the tries was by Reuben Walsh with Jonah Cumings putting in a Richie McCaw-like performance at flanker and Matthew McDonald filling in at full back to great effect.

S3 Wildcats Hockey

An excellent performance from the whole team after a fortnight off. Great work on and off the ball resulting in goals for Evelyn and Emma giving them a 2-0 victory over Currie HS.

Team of the Week - 31 October 2015

The runners up are:-

3rd XI Hockey

In a very convincing 5-0 victory over Preston Lodge HS, the team displayed an excellent attitude, passing and tackling very well, with Eloise doing a great marking job on their best player.

…and the winner is

1st XI Hockey

The 1st XI were the pick of the teams in a very good weekend for the hockey teams. The squad is growing in confidence every week with some excellent spells of hockey and, in the 7-0 win, goals from 5 different players. A special mention goes to Megan Metcalfe who kept a clean sheet in the first half and then scored as a forward in the second. Megan’s place in goal was taken by Taylor Healy who made one great save.
